It’s Renovation Time!!!

My goodness, Friends! It has been A LONG time since I have sat down to think out loud!

SO MUCH has happened! I want to share the major events with you, but really this post is about the NEW ADDITION!!!

OK, the Catch-Up:

  1. I GRADUATED!
  2. I got my teaching license
  3. I HAVE A JOB! As a 3rd grade teacher in the school I have spent most of my life in!
  4. I rode over 100 miles on my motorcycle
  5. My good friends moved back, whom I ride motorcycles with.
  6. I’m working out with the Beachbody cult, trying my hardest to stay active and make good eating choices.
  7. I have had SO MANY life things come up I find it hard to believe I’m on “Summer Vacation”, but I also went to Vegas again, and this time I saw Britney!

Ok, here’s the meat of the deal!

We finally started the addition. They poured the basement, almost a month ago, it has been finished for a couple of weeks now, but that was really nothing to start posting about. We have had SO MUCH rain and it kept putting the project off, so I just ignored that it was even happening.

They now have the basement support beams up as well as the main part of the main sub floor. So we are already talking window and door placement with the contractor! It’s starting to become VERY real.

With thoughts about the windows and doors it made me realize that I need to get on the ball with what kind of decor I will be wanting, specifically in the bathroom! (The other rooms will be made to match the rest of the house as far as wood floors and white trim go, but I am aiming for a different wall color!)

So I am going to share with you my collage and inspiration rooms. I’m probably over confident in the possibilities, but it’s better for me to push for it and express my creativity than just let in sit bottled up and hate myself later for not speaking up. But everyone has a budget they are working with.

I also want to mention that our addition is 44 X 24. The living area in general will be about 20 X 20, the bedroom 15 X 20, and a spacious closet and bathroom fit in there as well, with enough room for a big shower and separate tub!

HOUSE

First I will start with the rooms that inspired me! These rooms are the overall feeling I would like to have.

I fell in LOVE with the bold tile, white walls, oil rubbed bronze and glass fixtures, and worn wood in these rooms. In the second photo, you can see a colorful curtain from Anthro. I won’t have a shower curtain, but this helped solidify my dreams of having Mexican tin/tile mirrors in the room. The colors do work well with the worn wood, and this bold pattern on the curtain shows me that it’s ok to go bold! Just not tile, and curtains, and towels, and walls, and everything else… First and second photos are my main squeeze.

Next would have to be this shower. It has been a struggle for me to find a design that I thought Michael would like, but would blend well with my style. He is all about the expensive flashy hotel look. Sleek and modern. Which is why I think this shower is a great compromise. The wood-look tile is rustic enough, but the over all clean lines lend to his style. The shower we will have will actually be glass on two sides, in my mind anyway, and with a bench. I’m convinced, at the moment, that this tile will fit the scheme because of the tile they use in the same photograph. It is a bold graphic print, but in grey.

I can imagine having a more affordable shower floor, like a fiberglass tray bottom. This wold help with costs, but not sacrifice over all style, and probably be easier for me to keep from molding/mildewing. Or maybe tile is a better buy! I don’t know numbers yet, but we will see!

So below you will see a collage of items that help create the look I want.

bathroom

I’m so very proud of this design. For the first time ever I feel like all my favorite styles have been expertly blended: Fixer Upper (with a mild amount of white farmhouse look), Anthroplogie, Target, and ethnic pieces.

For now they are building, but it won’t be long and I will be having my very own DEMO DAY! They will be tearing down a wall to connect things so I’m pretty excited about that!

I’m still forever away from creating collages for my living and bedroom. We will be using our current furniture for a LONG time, but I will be getting area rugs and curtains promptly, so perhaps I will make collages of ideas I have with those items!

Have a fabulous day, Friends!

The Ice Storm

My life is pretty exciting. I seem like a pretty boring person, but when you wrap up my years… and check-off things like learning to ride and buying a Harley, riding on the back of a Harley to Colorado, visiting Las Vegas via road trip through the southwest, and the multitude of shenanigans I’ve been in… It’s pretty great.

But this ice storm, friends, was one for the books.

img_4540

It actually got me excited instead of scared.

I’m the outdoorsy type. All YEAR= CAMPING!

SPRING/SUMMER = Hate shoes. Hate pants. Love being free in nature.

FALL/WINTER= Bring on the campfires!

So cabin life seems like the life for me. Even in the winter.

This event gave me a great glimpse into real life in a cabin in the woods, or life in the past.

At our house we lost electricity for almost EXACTLY 3 days. Thankfully we have a gas stove and a brand spanking newly insulated home, so we survived the first night in the cold house and were able to cook our meals, but we sought refuge with family for sleep the next two nights as the thermostat crept below 45.

There was wifi. But not enough technology to allow me to get any work done. Besides there were tons of baby evergreens to save from the weight of the ice!

I didn’t have to care about my looks, just about being warm and staying positive. And all in all I enjoyed the experience. I was able to do yoga, make coffee on the stove-top, and enjoy Michael’s company by candlelight.

Enjoy some candid snaps and shots from around the farm.

Working It!

I am SO excited to be returning back to school. I am blessed that I get to be back in the school I worked at for my student teaching internship! I cant believe the 3rd graders that I once helped are now in 5th, where I will be!

The other night I was up late with my anxiety and just being a night-owl/Pitta type and decided to prep my wardrobe for the upcoming first week.

Then I kept going, and I have a months worth of outfits, enough to wear something different everyday…and then some! It makes me blush that I have that much clothing, but I’m happy that I am prepared for any weather or turn of events!

It’s January and January has always felt light blue and silver to me. Anyone else give colors to the months and seasons? For example: I love wearing lots of browns, blacks, oranges, and greens in October and November moving into maroon by the end of November and then blacks and gem tones in December… the on to teals and blues in January… No? Just me! Haha.

Well I have many teals and blues to wear this months as well as blacks and light-browns.

Before we go further a HUGE apology for photographing at night. I was VERy busy today running and was stuck in town, then when I got home I HAD to clean before blogging. So the clothes will not look the greatest or true to color, and I’m in a hurry. But it was a goal to get this post out there, so here it is!

This first top is a thick sweater with 3/4 sleeves, which was an instant dream-team for me. I’m a sleeve-pusher. I’m paring it with this great iridescent-ish necklace that really captures blues. I think it give the out fit something feminine. Paired with black slacks and light brown flats makes this outfit a move away from bland for me. I think the brown flats pick up the warmth from the necklace that the slacks and top cool down, as the stones are set in gold. This sweater would be great to wear with a button up underneath, sleeves rolled.

Next, I am very excited about this. I was having a hard time wearing this white cardigan and this grey shell. For what ever reason the sweater just didn’t seem right with the outfits I was pairing it with and the grey was almost purple, but this gorgeous amazonite mala necklace picks up the greys and whites and adds a pop of teal and orange. Paired with black slacks and brown flats.

Here we have the pretty necklace again, this time with a more polished sweater in teal. Again, I photographed at night and these photos just don’t give the color it’s justice. Definitely more green in person. (Check out instagram for any full outfit photos!!! @ashleyontherun) This sweater has buttons up the back. So cute! paired with black slacks and flats.

4th day… I. LOVE. THIS. TOP. There is something so great about an oversized-sweater! This sweater feels casual, but does not look it! Paired with a pretty gold flower necklace, black slacks and brown flats.

img_4482-copy

img_4483-copy

And for my Friday outfit! As a student teacher, I am suggested by the college to not conform to the “jeans on Friday” rule of the school I am in while student teaching. So in order for me to feel a little bit more comfortable while remaining professional as well as part of the team I decided on a simple, casual striped knit top with a black open cardigan, black slacks, and black flats. This top feels like a t-shirt compared to the rest of the week, so that is why it feels casual to me! Nothing too frilly! Stay posted to my ig to see if I share the full outfit.

So that’s my first week! I had so much fun gathering like pieces and making a theme or colorstory for each week. You can tell my first week was cool blues with pops of gold/brown. I’m dying to get Valentines week prepared! It is still a little bit early yet. I have red and pink slacks so that takes care on Monday and Tuesday’s bottoms! I’m keeping an eye out for a sweater with a big heart on it! And hoping to make a cute heart necklace. The rest of the week may be slightly less decked-out, but black and white with pops of red or pink.

Tops are all from Loft, and I do believe they are all still available as of this post. The gem and flower necklace are Loft. The amazonite mala is from True Nature jewelry on Etsy. Pants are low rise ankle pants from Express. Flats are Born.

Happy 2017!

Well, if I recall correctly, I had a very nice, long-winded, post for the New Year 2016. This time around I don’t have the urge or time for it! I have thought about last years goals and about my goals going forward. I did not accomplish ALL of my goals last year, but I came SO MUCH further than I had imagined! I remember one of my goals had to do with running. At one point last year I ran 8 whole miles straight, no stops. no music. Just me, my phone and wristband tracking me, a squeezy packet of energy gel, and a little voice in my head repeating positive affirmations and saying silly things along the way. And my favorite running shorts of course!

capture

2016. My ex died. In a motorcycle accident. We had been apart 3+ years, 4 in March/April. I hadn’t spoken to him once in all of that time, but because of social media I knew much of what was going on in his life. You know, the general stuff. So it hit me like a punch to the gut. I saw how free spirited he was, and recently, IN LOVE! Of course this didn’t hurt me NEARLY as much as his family and girlfriend (and son on the way), but I’d be lying if I said it didn’t upset me…for some time. It also brought a lot of people closer and changed my perspective a little bit. Whether I was forced to start operating a certain way or I was changing it based on my experiences. I felt myself lose control over work and school. I was dangling by a thread. But I was reacting to the stress of things by withdrawing. Somehow I did manage to make it out with straight A’s. Somehow I managed to scrape by at work. And then Christmas came and went. And finally the New Year. I got the chance to REALLY spend time with Michael. We went on a date. Up to this point I had finally begun feeling like myself again so it was what I really needed. Happy Planning, chatting with Sarah and Kaitlyn regularly, breaking from school work. All this time I had just been able to live life without quite so much pressure. It made me realize how capable I am at making achievements under pressure, but that it doesn’t need to feel that way. How much I need discipline, FOCUS, and to put myself first without coddling the stress and withdrawing.

So this new year, I’m reinforcing my no more working rule! After I start my student teaching internship I will only be working Saturdays! (Except this first week, there’s a bit of a transfer of power… actually the lady is on vacation so I have to come in after school to do maintenance things until she returns…THEN I’m free!)

Last year I ran my heart out. I know I can make it to a Half Marathon, so I have made a coach with Nike’s new version! I was using the old version and it deleted it when I switched! Womp Womp! So I’m super excited for this! I’m still rocking my Sacuony’s with an insole. I think that if I make it to 8 miles again I might invest in a new pair. Yoga is also a goal, 3+ days a week. I just love it, and tend to forget how much I do. I NEED it. My Fit planner is helping me visualize how much of my goals I am required to do each day. I look at it and see that I have a run planned these days, and probably Yoga on these, WOW! there’s no room to slow down! Time to focus! And the DownDog App is AMAZING. I really appreciate what it offers for a person like me that is too broke or spread thin to go to a real class. At some point however I do want to try to take some classes to connect with a real teacher and make some friends.

Nutrition is another goal, again. With working at a school being prepared for the day is going to be super important. I’m going to be a serious bag lady! Bags for: 1 or 2 for School/purse, gym, and lunch. Which is a lot when you are also carrying coffee, keys, yogurt and trying to load up your dog and lock up! haha, but having everything ready to grab from the fridge and in the bags by the door is a big goal for me.

Staying in motion. This applies to me when I get home. I tend to collapse on the couch and never get anything done in full. This is so hard for me int he winter time when I want to get cozy and it gets dark so early. I may even try to make a list of chores to do on certain days, once I get a feel for my schedule. I really desire this, but I tend to never follow through and that’s part of what staying in motion means to me!

I believe the last area I have set a goal in is spending money. With working for free and only working one day a week it’s going to be hard to justify any expenses, so I have limited my clothing money to a few basics I know that I will need soon (dress pants, shoes, possibly underthings), 5 new tops MAX because I know we will go to Wichita at some point, and school supplies. I am NOT allowed to buy any home decor until summertime.

I feel really good about these goals. They are a lot different for me. I have set a distance goal for running, but it feels more tangible after getting so close last year. Yoga is just very important to me now. Staying in motion applies to fitness, nutrition, housekeeping, schoolwork, everything! It means get your stuff done before you collapse! and the money thing has been a long time coming. I have had a lot of fun the last year building up my wardrobe and decorating my home, and the wardrobe is definitely important! But the decor has only brought me a minimal amount of satisfaction, don’t get me wrong, I LOVE to decorate, I’m sure if you know me IRL you can tell that, but at this point in my life we are not living in our “real” living room (We will be adding on at some point…) and so every purchase feels impermanent. and the guilt that comes with shopping when I should be saving will not be worth it moving forward.

2016

So I hope that 2017 has a lot to bring to me. 2016 was REALLY REALLY great until October. I learned to ride a motorcycle, bought a HARLEY! rode the back of a Harley to Colorado, visited Las Vegas, ran my heart out, taught. I mean it really was so much fun. I decorated, crafted, Happy Planned, spent time with friends… But I’m ready for a more focused year! and one that will changed my life FOREVER! HELLOOOOOO TEACHING!!!!

Thanks for letting me open up a little bit with you all.

What are your goals for 2017?

I Daydream of LOFT

That’s a nod to “I Dream of Jeannie” if you didn’t catch that! Today I opened my email to find one of the many LOFT emails I receive. This one I opened rather than sending it straight to the trash. (I’m usually aware of their sales before they ever send an email! Call me a stalker…!) But this one featured some blogger stars styling LOFT items for work, which totally appeals to me. And, yes, the inspiration came!

I absolutely loved these outfits in particular:

blue

I just love the soft blue color of these pieces and how they are paired with warm brown, I would have never done that! When I see a cool blue my instinct is to pair it with black, making the look even more cold. I also have never considered a scarf wrap like this! Love it! (Not a fan of bootcut/flare with ankle boots…?)

boot

This one caught my attention because there are basically three things going on to me and one of them may be VERY useful! That would be the ankle boots with ankle pants! I had been curious about wearing these two things together, but thought it may be a strange look, but it pulls off well! She is also wearing a tunic/dress with slacks. How neat! And the vest is another thing slightly out of my comfort zone, but I’m trying to imagine myself possibly giving them a try. This might allow me to feel cozy without restricting my movement.

moto

And this is just amazing. I love the bo-ho look, always have. I’m a hippie at heart. But because I have a motorcycle, work at a Harley shop, and basically bleed Harley I really love how these two contrasting looks compliment each other! Very fun flirty feminine with a modern clean edge.

I can’t decide which element I want to try first! I can easily go slip on some ankle boots to see if I like how it looks on me. But I’m definitely dreaming of purchasing some more pieces from LOFT soon! They are having a great sale right now!

Here’s a few of the things I’d love to get:

brown

I can see myself pairing this with the dandelion sleeveless top from earlier this year. It is ivory with a sweet orange and light blue floral print. The challenge will be which color of slacks will work best!

flower

This top gives me spring and art teacher vibes! I would love to pair it with my red slacks and maybe even my turquoise cardigan! Gotta love some loud contrast!

hippie

This is the shirt version of the “hippie dress”. I really don’t know which one I would prefer! So I will probably end up with neither! hahaha In all honesty I’m really not much of a dress wearer. I really love wearing slacks and jeans.

holiday

This looks like a perfect holiday top! I just love that shade of green. I have one in a similar silhouette, but in maroon and I just love the way it feels on.

white

Love how fresh this top is. It looks to be the same cut as the shirt just above. It has a casual vibe, but is still dressy. Check out those “poet’ sleeves! How would I get creative with this top? maybe tucking it into some dress pants, or not, and wearing a necklace that had  just a few colored gems/beads in it? hmmmm.

Well, perhaps it is just about time for me to do a round up of my “newer” pieces and see where I’m at! Fall has been fairly warm, so I don’t feel like I’ve been getting to really wear the pieces I’d like to style or the outfits I love just yet! I have my eyes set on this FANTASTIC pair of pumpkin spice pants at Express that might just make all of my fall dreams come true. 😉

It has still been very busy when I have free time at home and I am soaking up lots of friend time when I get the chance. Last night my best friend and I got together for wine, classical music, wall decor hanging, and AHS! It was a fun night. We even got a short dog-walk in and some yummy snacks! So that’s my life right now! Hurry up and do homework, hurry up and spend time with friends, hurry up and watch your favorite shows or read your book… I love it! I just can’t wait for homework to be such a huge part of things! But this is only the beginning of the tough stuff!

Any way, have a lovely Fall weekend! I will hopefully be spending time with Michael riding ATVs and getting some outdoor Autumn decor going, which gets me one step closer to a blog post!

How about you all? Any great outfit/fashion finds? Do you have some current #loftlove? Have any fall plans?

Love Y’all!

A Note on Life and Procrastination

Can I write a personal post, for a change and an update? Well, of course I can. I have been  busy with my classes this semester (big surprise right?), and it’s only just the beginning for me. On the plus side being busy keeps me from thinking that something is missing in my life. On the down side it has taken me over a month to adjust to the new schedule and teachers.

Michael started his new job and the shop, where I work, closes an hour earlier now, so both of us are off at 5! I also have a come-to-Jesus with my Educational Psychology homework. We were not doing well together. I realized that I needed to be motivated, whether I felt like it or not. So far it seems to have made a great difference. I will truly know when I get my grade back on an upcoming project.

As far as farmhouse items go, I have been busy decorating and perfecting for Autumn, when I can be. I am almost ready to take some photographs. I think I will go ahead and do this Sunday or Monday, my days off. The weekend after next I will get to decorate the front “porch”. I’m so much further behind everyone else, but I have homework that is tons more important and a new house that deserves so much more than many of my dinky apartment decorations. If you follow my Instagram you can see a few sneak peeks.

In the way of fitness. I dropped off just before September. I am making an effort to regroup very soon. I miss running. and now that schedules are syncing and flowing I think I will be able to get back with it. Especially with food planning. I get very mental about things you see and it causes me to withdraw. I call it being lazy. I am lazy. But it’s more likely often a result of my anxiety. I throw lots of pity parties for myself, mentally.

As for other things in my life… it’s always quite interesting! I have been Happy Planning away, I decorated for and witnessed a wedding at the Harley Shop, I have been to Colorado on the motorcycle (hope to share pictures with you soon as well!), went shopping with my mom for all things great, I have been in an amazing classroom for my internship and taught some lessons, and I continue to find ways to improve after being in a slump!

Some of the changes I have made, which really are just adulting:

  1. Buying groceries with a plan. I haven’t really been doing this. I have been relying on Michael to come up with ideas for dinner and grill. So I was quite proud when I bought myself some breakfast foods, some snacks for both of us and dinner for two meals this week. I didn’t even break the bank! When Michael came home from work, the chicken and dumplings were ready to eat! It was a perfect Monday. I hope to keep this going.
  2. Syncing schedules has helped a ton. I have so far been able to convince Michael to help me clean up after dinner, and we have been eating at the table. He helps wash some of the dishes which is better than nothing and I super appreciate it. I’m able to put leftovers away and dry them and then finish the rest. He also takes out the trash the majority of the time.
  3. Doing my homework with a plan in mind. When I started visiting a friend regularly, sort-of, I felt the need to get certain homework items out of the way earlier than my normal procrastinating self does. And somehow I stuck with it. Now I get the discussion boards done a day early, and after my problems with Ed Psych I’m reading that text book through out the week rather than the couple of days before things are due. I tell you it feels great at the end of the evening when it’s 9:30-10:00 and I’m able to stop and relax and read a fun book or watch a show with out any stress. Often I can even not do any homework Friday or Saturday because I am far enough ahead! It’s really rewarding.
  4. And a simple change in setting for homework has done wonders. I began reading my Ed Psych text at the table to give me a greater sense of importance. I was not giving it enough attention on the couch. I began reading and highlighting and making note-cards for vocabulary and even rereading for summarize the major chucks of concepts they want us to be able to explain. It’s been fantastic. So yes, I do my homework in three different places at home!
  5. Of course having my Happy Planner has helped me. I keep track of my homework using the side bar. Other important dates, to-do’s, or what homework I feel like concentrating on that night get written in the regular daily part.

14449885_10154664336298606_168895327780573971_n

All in all, I’m sad that it has taken me so long to realize how great it feels to not be a procrastinator, but I know in my heart I will always be fighting this! Thankfully I know what needs to be done to get on track, up so speed, and ahead of the deadlines! And maybe this information makes me seem really ridiculous, oblivious, or even naive and child like. I’m ok with that. We all fight our own battles. My life has been relatively easy, especially working at a Harley shop, but being in school gives me more responsibility, and it’s only going to increase. I just wanted to share some things that I have found help me function at home and with homework a little bit better.

So this busy bee will try to keep some future updates in mind!

Back to School!

The kids in our district will be returning to school in 2 days. This, and the fact that I received a new top from LOFT in the mail, has me really excited! My semester does not start until next Monday and I have no access to my syllabi, so on my day off I think of doing the only other things I can to prepare for school: Organize last semester’s reading material and my wardrobe!

I am so excited about this new wildflower peplum top! It is currently no longer available, but there are other GORGEOUS tops in the same/similar print. I really wish they would have designed the white wildflower top in petite or XXS, but it’s all good…

Screen Shot 2016-08-15 at 5.22.02 PM.png

So many people, myself included, are looking for inspiration for teaching wardrobes, and as female teachers I think we get really excited about Pinterest and Instagram posts that have darling outfits put together. They have become novelty to me!

Everyone’s district has different guidelines for a dress-code, and every person has their own style and tastes. In my district I have felt a lot of pressure, especially as a future teacher, to dress as professionally as possible. This means bottoms made of suiting material and dressy tops.

Now, you will find plenty of teachers that wear colored denim, khakis, knit maxi skirts, etc., but I know for myself, I will prefer to begin by building a business casual wardrobe, and relax from there… If I so decide. I do love colored denim and boots! Teaching the older grades will have me in less of a fuss to wear comfortable clothes, because I think I will be down on the ground less. Not completely off the ground, but on it less.

So that is my style aim. My next caveat is my body type. I am tiny. Super tiny on top, normal tiny on bottom. I also have limited access to good stores. But I came across LOFT, and they carry tons of petite styles. Almost every one of their pieces comes in petite!

I was a long time Maurice’s shopper. They used to offer great pieces for the office, but as their company is evolving their sizing has gone up slightly, and I can rarely find not only things that are small enough, but tops that have an appropriate neckline or back. Many of their pieces would still be great for the general office, but as a teacher I need more options. That is where LOFT saves me. So many of their tops fit and have higher necklines.

Now, not all of my tops HAVE to “choke” me, but I just have to be a little more prepared when I do where other necklines.

My favorite type of top to wear, I have noticed, is a sleeveless shell.

These tops are so versatile for me. They allow me to wear cardigans with out getting too hot and they can be mixed and matched if you are creative! Easily worn with pants or skirts.

The wildflower and sunflower yellow top will get worn most during the first and last of the school year. I tend to wear lots of orange, brown, and black in October and then begin mixing in other fall colors and eventually winter colors.

The next kind of tops that I have are ones with sleeves.

I’m trying to add more of this type of shirt to my wardrobe to get away from wearing cardigans most of the time. I’m excited about the possibilities of the black and white top because there are some great colors that it will pair with! Pink, red, yellow, burnt orange…

Next up, sweaters. First, cardigans.

IMG_4443.JPG

Ive got a head start on fall AND colors that are a little out of my comfort zone!

Pullovers also exist, but rarely get purchased! I have two more in mind that I want to get!

And the last category… DRESSES! I VERY rarely wear dresses! But I adore the ones that I have purchased, and They do get worn at least once a year.

SO there you have my LOFT collection so far! I’m so happy that this brand is there for me. Their style can seem kind of strange at first, but as I am getting older I can definitely embrace their simplicity.

Now… That can’t be ALL that I own, of course. It’s definitely a good start, but I have a few pieces from other brands that I still LOVE.

Tops come from Maurice’s, JCP, Buckle, and Forever 21. Dress are Angie, Maurice’s x2, JCP, and Forever 21. Cardigans come from JCP, Maurice’s, Buckle, Charlotte Russe, and Forever 21. Some of them I have had for years.

Let’s talk about dress pants! I buy all of mine from Express. Again, one of the few places that makes them small enough for me. But there are two other MORE important traits about their pants.

  1. Slim leg opening. The columnist barely boots and ankle pant create a slimmer silhouette, and when you are 5’3″ you need that in order to not look short and stumpy!
  2. Tailored and well made. These pants will last if cared for.

Now, it may seem like I am a bit high maintenance when it comes to my clothing, to some. I could definitely be wearing items that are more expensive or less expensive, but these were purchased on sale, and others have been held on to for a long time. I think it also takes time to figure out what works best for you! I invest in Express pants because I know they will flatter and last. I invest in LOFT items because they flatter, are work appropriate, and can be often found on sale at reasonable prices. Don’t ever shop there at normal price, unless it’s something you MUST have and you know it will sell fast. This does happen!

I also will probably not always be able to shop like this, that is why I am trying to build up a wardrobe now. This has also taken all summer! I purchased my first LOFT top in May. I also received a raise in January and my living situation lightened up a lot, so investing in my career has been a rewarding luxury.

One detail about my style, I noticed, is that I do not accessorize much and that is exactly what makes the teacher outfits I see so fun! That is definitely one goal for my wardrobe. In the coming weeks I will not be making many purchases, as I am saving up for a new fitness watch. (I lost my Fitbit!). But here is my brainstorm for my wardrobe:

  1. Tops from Loft (Fall and Outside the Comfort-Zone): Pullover sweaters, basic shells (black, white), cardigans (grey, white, brown)
  2. 3-4 Express dress pants, skinny ankle (hopefully a sale will pop up, they usually do a buy one-get one)
  3. FOOTWEAR: aiming for two pairs black and two pairs brown… undecided on brands
  4. Jewelry: a couple of statement necklaces, a couple that are just nice

If you take a look closely at my wardrobe you can see that there is a good amount of oranges, browns, creams, and blacks. I definitely love to dress up for October, and these colors also work well into November.

I am excited to plan my October outfits. I am hoping to have enough to mix-and-match something unique for every day! So, fall is always on the list as well!

Using each kind of top (shell, cardi, sleeves, etc.) it is easy to diversify your look. I currently do not have many outfits that are fun colors, most of them have a fall look, so building up some other outfits that are outside my comfort-zone has been an exciting challenge!

In the future I hope to share my outfits with you! (And someday I will have a master closet that I hope I can organize and share!)

So how about you? How do you all plan your outfits and wardrobes? What are your favorite places to shop? Do you have a style that you embrace? A style that you try to break away from?
